Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls

Meet Ellen

Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls in Ohio's Hocking Hills – Innkeeper/Owner

Ellen Grinsfelder, Innkeeper/Owner, at The Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls, has co-owned and operated it since August 1987. She relocated to the Hocking Hills in early 1987. The Inn was created and developed by Ellen's mother Anne Castle.  They ran the business jointly until 1991 at which time Anne passed away.

“My mother created the Inn, choosing the Hocking Hills and specifically their 75 acres because she felt a connection with the land. She believed that a connected mind, body and spirit were essential.  Her dream was to provide a place where the ever-growing number of urban dwellers could retreat to a natural setting, to leave—even for a short time—lives increasingly removed from our necessary but overlooked partnership with the land—with nature—with the earth.  My husband Terry and all the staff share the mission with me to carry on Anne’s dream.  When a guest leaves and says, ‘we feel so rejuvenated and reconnected,’ we know why!”

Ellen has been successful in developing the business in all areas of marketing, restaurant and spa operations and overnight accommodations. Currently, she serves on the marketing and green committee for Hocking Hills Tourism Association.  In 1997, she was awarded the prestigious Ohio Hotelier of the Year Award from the Ohio Hotel & Lodging Association (OHLA) and now serves on their board.

Ellen lives with her husband Terry Lingo, who worked with her to develop and expand the Inn. They have two children: Sarah, who is in management with Target and Benjamin who is a sophomore at North Carolina State.  When the family plays, they love traveling and boating on the Ohio River.

Meet Randy
Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls in Ohio's Hocking Hills – Spa Manager

Randall Wellman, spa manager at the Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls, has been a licensed massage therapist since 1995. He graduated from the Central Ohio School of Massage and also has a Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio University and a Masters of Natural Health from the Clayton College of Natural Health. Randy is originally from the Columbus, Ohio area. While living there, he worked in the legendary Beechwold Natural Clinic and the NEW Clinic. He had the opportunity to study with well known healers, authors, and leaders in the natural healthcare world.

Randy owned and operated White Oak Massage and Spa Services before joining forces with the Spa at Cedar Falls. Randy is skilled in many massage and spa modalities and created the menu for the spa. He believes the effects of massage therapy and spa treatments go deeper than the "feel good" level they produce: "The treatments we do actually help the body heal from the stresses and toxins of everyday life and give the body permission to heal itself as our Creator intended."

In addition to his expertise in massage therapy, Randy is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys kayaking, fishing, hunting and geocaching.
